Holker Old Boys progressed to the FA Vase 3rd round following a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Winsford United, after the sides played out a 1–1 draw in normal time.

The opening half ended goalless, with neither side able to find a breakthrough before the interval. Holker eventually took the lead in the 65th minute through Luke Davey, putting the hosts in a strong position heading into the closing stages.

However, Winsford found a late equaliser in the 88th minute through Adam O’Mara, cancelling out Davey’s opener and sending the tie straight to penalties, with no extra time played.

Winsford’s opening penalty was saved before Tom Dawson stepped up to give Holker the advantage. Henry Briscoe converted the visitors’ second attempt, but Luke Davey responded with another successful spot kick.

Winsford then struck the crossbar with their third penalty, allowing Nathan Reid to extend Holker’s advantage by converting his effort.

The visitors scored their fourth before Tyler Spence saw his penalty saved, keeping Winsford in contention. Winsford then converted their fifth to level the shootout at 3–3.

With the tie resting on the final kick, Patrick Allington stepped up and calmly converted Holker’s fifth penalty to secure a 4–3 shootout victory and send the Old Boys through to the next round.
